Possible meteor rips across N.J. night sky as bright fireball is reported along East Coast - NJ.com

Hundreds of people in New Jersey and along the East Coast reported seeing a what appeared to be a meteor streaking across the sky and bursting into a fireball late Tuesday night.

The American Meteor Society said it received 325 reports from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Virginia and Vermont about a bright fireball shooting across the horizon shortly before 11 p.m.

Multiple people in Egg Harbor Township said they saw a bright flash across the sky. Cape May County residents reported houses shaking as the meteor as it passed.

In addition, 45 people in Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark also claimed they saw something similar.

Numerous people captured video of the possible meteor.

Reports of a meteor also came in from Brazil.
